When Steven Oo debuted his graduate collection at New York Fashion Week in 2010, Suzy Menkes proclaimed his knitwear are "beautiful as sculptures." This accolade set the stage for his rise as a Burmese-American-Chinese knitwear designer with a specific style for architectural design. Born in Myanmar in 1984, Steven earned his Bachelor's in International Business from UC Berkeley and a Master's in Fashion and Knitwear Design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.
Steven's return to Asia in 2012 marked the beginning of Meridian Knitwear Inc., where he designed for notable high-end brands like Oscar de la Renta, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Coach, Monse, and Narciso Rodriguez. His bold, vibrant knitwear has been adored by A-listed Stars like Jay Chou, Amber Kuo, Korean girl group member Aespa, and Jang Wonyoung. Major fashion publications like Vogue, ELLE, and DAZED have featured his work. In 2022, Steven launched his very own clothing line, blending traditional knitting techniques with streetwear, urban aesthetics, capturing the interest of a younger audience.
Beyond his design prowess, Steven's influence extends to television and social media. He has appeared on shows like "Informal Talks" and "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," amassing a large following online.
