Jacques Wei, a graduate of Paris's Atelier Chardon Savard in fashion design, spent seven years studying and working in Paris before establishing his eponymous studio in Shanghai in 2019. His experience includes training at Marta Manitovani's haute couture embroidery workshop and contributing to haute couture dress creations for Stephane Rolland and Julien Fournie.
Wei's distinctive design approach, which merges classical cultural elements with modern silhouettes, has garnered attention both within and outside the fashion industry. His work has been featured in major publications like Vogue, Elle, and Wallpaper, with ongoing collaborations with these and other top-tier media outlets including Marie Claire and Bazaar. Wei's achievements include winning the third Ultrasuede@ x LABELHOOD Innovation Award. His jewelry collaboration with CHJ Jewellery earned both the French Design Award and the American Muse Design Award.
Wei excels at combining classical culture with modern forms, using precise tailoring and luxurious materials as his canvas. He incorporates haute couture and menswear techniques into women's ready-to-wear, creating clean lines that capture the romantic spirit of modern urban women. As Wei puts it, "May flowers and pine needles bring you both passion and romance," reflecting his aim to help women express their individuality through his designs. This philosophy is evident in his work, where he skillfully balances structured silhouettes with romantic elements, allowing women to wear their attitudes confidently.
