Balenciaga and Galliano alum. ELLE's ""New Fashion Talent"" winner. Cacharel's first Chinese creative director. Paris Fashion Week regular, ANDAM Awardee.
Dawei Sun's fashion journey is a blend of prestigious education and high-profile experience. After graduating from Paris's elite fashion school, Sun dove straight into the deep end, working at Balenciaga under Nicolas Ghesquière and at Dior during John Galliano's era. These experiences weren't just resume builders; they shaped Sun's unique design approach, mixing modern cuts with a playful touch.
Sun's talent didn't stay hidden for long. In 2004, he swept the board at France's international young designer competition, bagging both the top prize and the best craftsmanship award. Fast forward to 2011, and Sun was turning heads again, this time catching ELLE France's eye as their "New Fashion Talent." The same year, he made history with his partner as Cacharel's first Chinese creative directors. Not one to rest on his laurels, Sun launched his brand DAWEI in 2016, and by 2019, he'd secured a coveted spot on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar.
Sun's latest collaboration with Fabrique is a nod to his design philosophy: "only creating products that interest me." Inspired by felt rabbit dolls, the collection aims to bring a breath of fresh air to working women's wardrobes. It's classic Sun - a mix of natural simplicity, urban sportiness, and a dash of romance. As we step into the new year, Sun's designs are like a gentle nudge, encouraging us to relax while keeping our imaginations alive for what's to come. His work speaks to those modern, urban women who aren't afraid to break the mold and express their individuality through fashion.
