What's Modern Oriental Style Really About?

Sometimes you have to look back to move forward.

Modern Chinese style, also known as New or Neo-Chinese at its core - is a modern interpretation that honors traditional Chinese design philosophies while embracing contemporary aesthetics and functionality.

But what makes this collection different from just another "Asian-inspired" lineup?

In this special collection at Fabrique, designers from around the world have drawn inspiration from timeless Chinese principles, and design values that are often overlooked in modern interpretations.

A Modern Memory

When then meets now

Alisa & Julia blend elegance with function, creating pieces that honor heritage while staying urban and wearable. Their designs respect traditional garments' original purpose—refined yet unrestricted.

The  Riri Mandarin Knot Jacket  features hand-braided knots and leather trim honoring traditional pankou craft, with a relaxed fit for easy movement. The  Alina Wool Jacket  takes a simpler approach with its round neckline and covered buttons.

Utility, But Make It Heritage

When Tang Dynasty meets barn jacket cool

The relaxed silhouette and its design principles of this  Boxy Style Utility Jacket  reaches back to the (7th-10th century) Tang dynasty's "Changshan"—a traditional men's garment where generous proportions weren't just about aesthetics, but practicality.
Designer Romain Détriché reinterprets tradition here with a twist: instead of traditional frog buttons that often adorned changshan, metal clasps create those same decisive vertical lines while adding an industrial edge.
Serpentine Style
When Year of the Snake Takes Center Stage

As we step into the Year of the Snake, designers turn this mystical zodiac into wearable art. The snake's wisdom and sophistication inspire pieces that capture its essence rather than just its appearance.

Lucy's design takes a more subtle approach, with hand-embroidered snakes that feel more like charming characters than fierce creatures. Perfect for anyone who wants their zodiac with a side of smile.

The  Masina Sequined Snake Sweater   plays with light through metallic threads and sequins on Merino wool, while the  Monet Snakeskin Sweater  takes an artistic approach with five-shade patterns in baby alpaca that flow like brushstrokes.

Annalia draws from her artistic background to give these zodiac pieces personal meaning. Her collection blends childhood memories with cultural symbolism, turning fashion into a way of engaging with the world – elegantly and intentionally.

Some Snakes Make Friends

Cute characters breaking stereotypes

Some of our designers took a fun twist this season with Zodiac-inspired patterns. Our bright red sweater features a stargazing cartoon snake that's too cute to resist.

Lucy's design takes a more subtle approach, with hand-embroidered snakes that feel more like charming characters than fierce creatures. Perfect for anyone who wants their zodiac with a side of smile.

Noble Energy

Prints that make waves

When tradition meets motion, something changes. These designs let ink art flow as it was always meant to.

Dynamic brushstrokes capture galloping horses – symbols of success and progress in Chinese art – while a water dragon weaves through waves and mist. Pagodas rise from misty mountains, reminiscing Song Dynasty landscapes. The sage green palette reflects celadon pottery tones, with drawstring details mimicking the flow of ink on paper.
