Jonathan Saunders, a British designer recognized for his masterful color blocking and print designs, began his journey at Glasgow School of Art before earning his master's at Central Saint Martins. His graduate collection of vivid printed chiffon gowns earned him the 2002 Lancôme Color Award. Within 48 hours of his graduation show, Alexander McQueen recruited him, and his Paradise Bird print became the standout design in McQueen's Spring/Summer 2003 collection.
After founding his eponymous label in 2003, Saunders quickly gained industry recognition. By 2005, he was showing at both London and New York Fashion Weeks. His achievements include the Scottish Designer of the Year, ELLE UK Fashion Designer of the Year, and the BFC/Vogue Designer Award. Featured in BOF and Vogue, he appeared three times on the prestigious BOF 500 list. His designs attracted an impressive clientele including Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, and Lady Gaga, while his expertise led to creative consultancy roles at Marc Jacobs, Chloé, and Emilio Pucci.
In 2016, Saunders became DVF's Chief Creative Director, with founder Diane von Furstenberg praising his unique understanding of color and pattern as crucial for the brand's future. His minimalist silhouettes and geometric color blocking draw inspiration from 1950s and 60s womenswear, while maintaining a modern edge through bold stripes and prints. His recent Fabrique collaboration merges contemporary art and sculptural influences with his signature craftsmanship, creating versatile pieces that emphasize feminine elegance.
